In order to solicit comments, we start this blog with separate threads for discussion. This is a proposal by David Jarrett, not by the Constitutional Commission (name change for consistency in Statutes) which shall meet and consider comments and submit its report.
It is proposed that nominations for the ticket can be made by any federation President.
Below are David Jarrett's proposed deletions in strike-out text and proposed amendments in red to Electoral Regulations Chapter 04, Article 1.2.
1.2 Nominations for the Presidential ticket and Continental Presidents must reach theFIDE Secretariat at least three months before the opening of the General Assembly. To be elected, Each candidate shall be nominated by his a President of a federation. He/She should have been a member of their federation at least one year before the General Assembly. A President of a federation is entitled to nominate only one candidate for each position.
This means that a President of a federation may nominate a candidate from another federation without seeking consent of that candidate's federation.
